Alpine National Park
Forests

Forests and their associated meanings are intrinsic to human history, and remain important components of creation stories, places that mediate between forms of heaven and earth and as locations for benevolence towards people in the form of food, shelter and water. They are also viewed as economic resources.

Our travels through forested landscapes are travels through landscapes that often have all these meanings. While we may travel through a national park, for example, First Nations people would have likely travelled through them and their travels were travels with different meanings.

Understanding the meanings of forests and trees allows us to understand much more about the forested landscapes within which we are LoST travellers.
